About the Project: The Augustaschacht Memorial, built through volunteer work, is a site for education and research. From January 1944 to 1945, over 2,000 people were forced to work at the ‘Arbeitserziehungslager Ohrbeck.’ 80 years after WWII, the camp raises awareness of its historical lessons. 

Type of Work: This year’s tasks include excavating, cleaning, and documenting finds at the camp site. The objects will be displayed or used for education. The focus is on creating video documentation, with the option to choose a specific theme or a general presentation. 

Accommodation:  Volunteers stay in shared rooms at a nearby community center in Hasbergen. Bring your own mat or air mattress and sleeping bag. 

Volunteer Requirements: An interest in history, intercultural exchange, and physical work in excavation.

Volunteers pay for their own travel to the country and internal travel to/from the projects and any visa fees.
