The Center for Sustainable Development are looking for volunteers interested in climate and renewable energy!

About the project: 

Artefact is an international training centre for sustainable development based in Glucksburg, Germany. The centre operates on renewable energy and is committed to sustainability. As a non-profit, Artefact runs a clay-architecture guesthouse and a Climate Park, welcoming tourists and visitors to learn about the environment. Additionally, it hosts various global learning projects and seminars. To keep the park in excellent condition, continuous repairs and expansions are required.

Type of work: 

Volunteers will collaborate on various hands-on tasks, primarily focused on building a straw bale house and maintaining the Climate Park. Work will also include other construction and renovation activities such as woodworking, painting, gardening, and grass mowing. 

 

A special highlight of the project, is a youth competition featuring a solar car race, which volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in! 

 

Volunteers will also have a chance to study and discuss climate change, the use of renewable energies and sustainable construction throughout the project. 

 

Accommodation: 

Camping on the grounds. Composting toilets and solar powered showers; volunteers need to bring their own tent, sleeping mat and sleeping bag. 

 

Volunteer requirements: 

An interest in climate protection and renewable energies is essential. Practical skills are helpful but not required.

VSI is a small charity and we charge a fee (€55 - €155) to volunteer on our projects, this includes food, accommodation, basic insurance whilst on the project and VSI annual membership. Volunteers pay for their own travel to the country and internal travel to/from the projects and any visa fees.  More info here.  

 

Please note, some of the descriptions mention an additional fee (of €50.00) when applying through non-SCI organisations, VSI is an SCI branch and this additional fee does not apply.  

 

No fundraising is needed to volunteer on our projects.
