Our German branch are looking for a volunteer to join their team in Bonn as a Placement Officer from March 2025 - March 2026.
This position is funded by the EU European Youth Programme under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and certain conditions apply – if you are between 18-30 years old, resident in Ireland and have not volunteered on a long-term ESC project previously – read on!
About the project:
You will support various activities and projects.
The project includes the following tasks:
- Placement: You will place volunteers from abroad in projects in Germany and vice versa.
- Communication: Email and telephone communication (most in English, partly in German). Communicate with volunteers, answer questions about projects and help interested applicants with their applications.
- Advertising/Social Media: Publishing our projects on social media and recruiting participants for our projects.
You will receive:
- Free accommodation in a flat with other volunteers (in the same building as the SCI-office)
- Monthly food allowance of €320.
- Monthly spending allowance of €183.
- Working hours are 35 hours per week (with time in lieu for extra hours worked at certain times of the year).
- Reimbursement of all expenses connected to work (e.g. travel to Germany, to projects, seminars etc. and visa costs).
- 30 days annual leave per year.
- Budget for language courses (plus you will have the opportunity to participate in the online-language training of the European Commission for ESC volunteers).
- Insurance through the group insurance for ESC volunteers.
Volunteer profile:
We are looking for:
- High motivation for volunteering and peace work
- Preferably experience or involvement in SCI or in another voluntary organisation (in Ireland this is experience with VSI though this is not essential)
- Good knowledge of English and preferably at least basic knowledge of German
- Good communication skills
- Independent and self-organised working attitude
- High degree of initiative
- Interest to bring own ideas and develop them
- Experience in office work (not essential)
- Experience in PR-work, social media, journalism or designing would be welcome but again, not essential
One of the goals of the project is to strengthen the cooperation between SCI Germany and their sending organisations. Therefore, in your application, please tell us about any experience you have with VSI, e.g. as a volunteer, participant in VSI projects in Ireland or abroad, member etc.
