Tomorrow, 3 December, is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD).
The theme this year is ‘Not all Disabilities are Visible’, which aims to spread awareness and promote understanding of disability issues that are not immediately visible such as chronic pain, learning difficulties, brain injuries and mental illness, among many others.
You can get involved and get informed by registering for one of the many free online events for IDPWD. Below are some of the free webinars taking place tomorrow:
9:00-10:15
‘Developing an Evidence Base for the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Food Security Programming: Launch of Research Partnership between TCD and WFP’
-Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and World Food Programme (WFP)
The webinar will include opening remarks from the Deputy Executive Director of WFP, Amir Mahmoud Abdulla and the Chancellor of TCD and former president of Ireland, Mary McAleese. There will then be a panel discussion featuring the project team and WFP colleagues.

‘Disability Inclusion in Gender Based Violence Programming - Webinar & Paper Launch’
-Irish Consortium on Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Christian Blind Mission (CMB) Ireland
The Irish Consortium on GBV and CBM Ireland will co-host this webinar for the launch of a new programme learning brief titled ‘Disability Inclusion in GBV Programming’. The event will feature a number of speakers and a Q&A session with panelists.

‘The Impact of Covid-19 on People Ageing with an Intellectual Disability in Ireland: IDS-TILDA COVID-19 Report Launch’
- Intellectual Disability Supplement to The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (IDS-TILDA)
During the webinar, Anne Rabbitte TD, Minister of State with responsibility for Disability, will launch the report, which explores the experiences of people with an intellectual disability during the pandemic. There will be a presentation on the report’s key findings and a panel discussion.

‘Inclusive Employment: Creating Awareness in Work’
-Dublin City University (DCU) Ability Group
The webinar, hosted by DCU Ability Group, will feature speakers from the Irish Wheelchair Association, AppleGreen, Pobal and DCU and a Q&A session with panelists. Panelists will discuss their involvement in the creation of inclusive work places for employees and how employers can create awareness and support people with disabilities.

‘Building Back Better: Toward a disability-inclusive post COVID-19 Higher Ed’
-TCD Forum for Staff & Ph.D Students with Disabilities & TCD Students’ Union
The event will feature a panel discussion between prominent disabled staff, Ph.D researchers and undergraduate students from TCD on the theme of creating a disability- inclusive and accessible Higher Education system post Covid-19.
