About the Online laboratory
In times of right-wing and neofascist politics on the rise across Europe, it is more than important to remember the atrocities of the Nazi-fascist regime and the forms of non-violent resistance that took place against it, e.g. individual/collective stories of solidarity, support to politically and racially persecuted, fleeing soldiers and other war victims; the role of women, clandestine press, peasants’ and workers’ struggles, resistance of Jews and others persecuted in concentration camps; the role of teachers, intellectuals and religious people. How could and did regular citizens around Europe resist against the terror and violence inflicted by the National Socialists? How do we remember these resistance fighters today? And how could these people from history inspire us to stand up for human rights and just societies today?
How will it work? In this Online laboratory, participants will discuss and reflect about these questions through interactive discussion methods, individual research, creativity and different reflection methods. The participants will create multimedia outputs around resistance against the Nazi regime through social media, video, interviews, Wikipedia articles, journalism or research.
When? From 4 to 11 January 2021, every day for 3 hours in the afternoon via Zoom video call and in the mornings, the participants will have individual tasks to fulfill.
Zoom, but make it fun! This is not university or school, the video calls will be fun and engaging. Non-formal education methods will be used, as well as participatory discussion and the Theater of the Oppressed method.
Who can participate?

- Interested in history of National Socialism and non-violent resistance against it
- Able to fully participate in the project every day
- Motivated to create follow-up projects
We explicitly encourage participants of all genders, sexual orientations, abilities, races and ethnic backgrounds to apply.

Participants need to be members of VSI. You also need good Internet connection, and a laptop camera and microphone.
