About the Project: Interested in National Socialism history and contemporary issues? Join a project honoring children and young people who lost their lives during the Nazi era. The Buchenwald Memorial near Weimar hosts international work camps to discuss history, politics, and society.
Type of Work: Tasks include maintaining the ‘Buchenwald Railway Memorial Trail,’ clearing roads, and stonemasonry in memory of deported children. Participants will also learn conservation techniques and work with historical objects.
Accommodation: Volunteers stay in 2-3 bed rooms at the Buchenwald Memorial’s International Educational Centre.

VSI is a small charity and we charge a fee (€55 - €155) to volunteer on our projects, this includes food, accommodation, basic insurance whilst on the project and VSI annual membership. Volunteers pay for their own travel to the country and internal travel to/from the projects and any visa fees.
