Description: Na Fir Bolg is a three-day family oriented alternative music festival organized in the Flemish Region. The first edition of this festival was organized in 1996, as a fundraiser for several environmental organizations. Nowadays there are two stages which provide a variety of local and international folk music, and about 15,000 visitors come each year. The profits from the festival go to environmental and other charity organizations. This year the festival takes place from July 5th to 7th.
Type of Work: This project involves a lot of hard manual work. The volunteers will assist in building-up the festival, for example installing water and electricity systems, installing fences around the festival grounds and decorating the site. During the festival (from 5-7 July), volunteers will be completely free of any work so they can attend the concerts and enjoy the festival! Once the festival is over, volunteers will assist in dismantling and cleaning the festival ground, as well as visiting the surrounding region.
Please note: When you click on the more info and application link below, you will leave the VSI website and go to the SCI database, search engine and application pages of SCI (VSI is the Irish branch of SCI). The projects listed on the database are managed by SCI branches and partners across Europe, the project titles and descriptions are generally written by non-native English speakers, so please excuse us if some of them are hard-to-understand or use unusual language!
Project fees: VSI is a small charity and we charge a fee (€55 - €155) to volunteer on our projects, this includes food, accommodation, insurance whilst on the project and VSI annual membership. More info here.
Please note, some of the descriptions mention an additional fee (of €50.00) when applying through non-SCI organisations. As VSI is an SCI branch there are no additional fees.
