Country: Italy
Date: 2nd - 12th September
Number of Volunteers: 15
Age: 20+
Project Code: IT-SCI 11.2
About the Project: Mòvesi APS is an organization dedicated to fostering human and ecosystem regeneration processes in Italy. It stands out for its use of permaculture methodologies, non-formal education, and its mission to promote a culture of inclusion and hospitality.
The aim of the project is to create a natural swimming pond that enhances both biodiversity and the usability of a space envisioned as a community hub, a place for agricultural and cultural production, where good practices inspired by permaculture, biophilia, and ecosophy can be explored and shared.
Type of Work: During the camp, volunteers will work on the construction of a natural swimming pond. The activities will include a shared design phase and, more substantially, manual work: transporting stones and building a dry-stone retaining wall and restoring the existing pool walls. The tasks will involve a fair amount of physical effort.
Study theme: The lessons include a theoretical part focused on learning the basics of the Italian language and culture, and a practical part based on the preparation of homemade food. Beekeeping workshop, as well as care and harvesting of garden produce.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be hosted in Buccino and Caggiano. In Buccino, they'll stay in a house with shared rooms. In Caggiano, accommodation will be in tents on a farm where activities take place. The farm has a house with 2 bathrooms and a kitchen, and is 3km from the town centre.
Location: The camp will take place between the towns of Buccino and Caggiano, in the Campania region, in the province of Salerno.
Requirements: A motivation letter is required explaining why you would like to attend. This project is not suitable for those who have dust or pollen allergies.
